현지 고교·대학과 연계한 실질적 진학 상담

[대학저널 이선용 기자] 서울예술대학교는 지난 5월 31일부터 6월 1일까지 미국 캘리포니아주 아케이디아에서 개최된 2025 미국 LA 한국유학박람회에 참가하여, 한국 예술 유학에 관심 있는 미국 현지 학생과 학부모를 대상으로 입학 정보와 장학 제도, 글로벌 교육 비전을 소개했다.
이번 박람회는 LA한국교육원과 국립국제교육원이 공동으로 주최하고, 국내 주요 대학 및 관계 기관이 참여한 행사로, 서울예대는 예술 특성화 대학으로서의 강점을 바탕으로 독창적 예술교육 모델과 국제교류 프로그램을 집중적으로 홍보했다.
서울예대는 부스를 통해 ▲방문상담 ▲영상 콘텐츠 상영 ▲글로벌예술인재전형 안내 ▲졸업생 활동 사례 등을 소개하며, 예술 유학을 희망하는 다양한 배경의 참가자들에게 실질적인 진학 정보를 제공했다. 특히 K-컬처에 대한 관심이 높은 현지 학생들의 발길이 이어졌으며, 음악·연극·무용·영상 등 각 분야의 전공 정보에 대한 문의가 활발했다.
서울예대 대외협력처장 이은지 교수는 “이번 박람회는 예술교육의 국제적 확장성과 서울예대의 글로벌 경쟁력을 확인할 수 있는 소중한 자리였다”며 “예술을 통해 문화적 교류와 교육의 기회를 넓혀가겠다”고 밝혔다.
서울예대는 지난 2009년부터 컬처허브와 현지 교육기관과의 교류를 통해 해외 예술 인재와의 접점을 넓혀왔으며, 앞으로도 다양한 국제 교류 활동을 통해 글로벌 예술 교육 네트워크를 꾸준히 확장해 나갈 계획이다.

Seoul Institute of the Arts showcased its global educational vision at the 2025 Study In Korea College Fair in LA, which was held from May 31 to June 1 in Arcadia, California. The event provided a platform for the institution to engage with local students and parents interested in pursuing arts education in Korea, offering detailed information on admissions, scholarships, and international programs.
The fair, co-hosted by the Korean Education Center in Los Angeles and the National Institute for International Education (NIIED), brought together major Korean universities and institutions. As a leading arts-specialized institution, Seoul Institute of the Arts highlighted its education system and international exchange programs.
During the fair, Seoul Institute of the Arts conducted in-person counseling sessions, screened promotional videos, introduced the Global Arts Talent Admission program, and shared success stories of its alumni. The event attracted significant interest from students enthusiastic about K-culture, with numerous inquiries about majors such as music, theater, dance, and film.
Professor Eunjee Lee, Director of External Relations at Seoul Institute of the Arts, remarked, “This fair was a valuable opportunity to demonstrate the international reach of our arts education and the global competitiveness of Seoul Institute of the Arts. We will continue expanding cultural exchange and educational opportunities through the arts.
Since 2009, Seoul Institute of the Arts has been actively building connections with global institutions, including through collaborations with CultureHub and local education providers. Seoul Institute of the Arts plans to further expand its global network through ongoing international exchange programs.
